FORT MADISON, Iowa - The Knox College men's golf team placed first in the Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Classic on Tuesday afternoon at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course.
The Prairie Fire shot a 298 to win by seven strokes. Monmouth College finished in fifth place.
Knox’s Brendan Wise earned medalist honors after firing a 70. The Prairie Fire’s Patrick Mattar finished in second place with a 73. Knox’s Harrison Philips (75) ended up in a three-way tie for fifth place.
The Fighting Scots’ Ryan Prusak and Gannon Greenman finished in a five-way tie for eighth place with 76s.
On the women’s side of the event, all three members of Carl Sandburg’s squad placed in the Top 20. The Chargers were led by Olivia Schwingle, who shot a 94 and tied for 12th place.
Sandburg's Anna Duden finished 15th with a 97, and Averi Heintzelman tied for 20th place with a 102 on a day with windy conditions and temperatures in the 40s.
Iowa Wesleyan's Aubrey Duncan and Waldorf's Jordan Aholt shared medalist honors with rounds of 10-over-par 81.
